My Story
Joshua Leo Tope grew up in the small town of West Salem, Ohio. The son of two pastors, Christianity is deeply embedded in his personality. Growing up his favorite pastimes were acting out stories he’d create with his stuffed animals and playing RPG video games. He’s always enjoyed creating stories, drawn to the worlds of superheroes and supervillains. Loves how they combine elements of sci-fi and fantasy. How you can have a space cowboy and a powerful witch in the same story. But beyond that he’s drawn to characters fighting against something bigger than themselves. The simplicity of the good vs evil and the shades of grey in between. A genre that can be anything as long as it has a strong central character.
Even with this draw to creating stories, he struggled to find his path in life. Before heading to college he considered becoming a chef and a pastor, but ultimately found that those paths were not for him. He went into college undecided. He attended Kent State University as an undergraduate. Where he took classes in art history and poetry, before finding his path as a screenwriter. After graduating from Kent, he decided to take his education to the next level and study writing for screen and stage at Point Park University. Gaining a master’s degree in spring of 2025
He currently has three feature length scripts that he’s willing to discuss with anyone willing to listen. The one he’s most proud of he calls The Lucky Seven. Logline reads: “An ex-government agent discovers that he and six other people, born at the exact same time, are being hunted down by a power hungry witch and must learn to work together in order to stop her and protect themselves.” He also has seven story bible for various projects with a pilot episode for one of them. He calls it The Twilight Museum. Logline reads: “In a world full of magical creatures and artifacts, it’s hard to keep them out of the wrong hands. To keep mortals from learning about their existence. That’s where Madame Abigar and The Twilight Museum come in.” And those are just the projects he has done on the page. There’s much more stories living in his head. A whole multiverse of stories for anyone that will listen.
